If you cannot move right away, you need to phone us for help.

We can almost always help you to:
  • get more time to find another place to live;
  • save yourself $ having the rent claim dismissed; and
  • avoid a money judgment being placed on your credit report which will remain there for seven years

We may not be able to help you if you call us after you go to court.

(773) 588-3469
Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M.
Please ask to speak to Lee Montgomery

If you go to court alone, the judge will probably enter an Order for Possession against you that very same day.

If you go to court with an attorney, the judge will not evict you that day.

[The Illinois Tenants Union is not a law firm or a legal services corporation; however, our executive director is a licensed Illinois attorney. And, we also have relationships with other experienced attorneys who will represent tenants should the need arise.]

If you have any questions or would like more information, or to discuss your rights please contact us (773) 478-1133, email us, or use our online request form.
